Welcome to Jaluha’s Cakes

I remember baking in my mother’s kitchen long before I knew what recipes were. I baked purely from passion and curiosity. Most of my experiments flopped, but we ate them anyway, laughing through the mistakes and learning as we went.

Fast forward to 2018. I didn’t have a job and was searching for something to keep me going when the idea of making cakes came up. My first cake order is a story for another day, but that moment pushed me into a season of research, late nights on the internet, and slowly learning the art and business of baking. Over the years, I’ve learnt so much, not just about cakes, but about patience, resilience, and trusting the process.

Jaluha’s Cakes began in my mother-in-law’s kitchen in Bondo, grew with me in Kisumu, and has now brought me back to Bondo again, full circle. Every stage has shaped the brand and the baker I am today.

I believe that every cake tells a story. Through this blog, I want to tell those stories, share our wins and failures, and offer useful tips to help you understand cakes a little better, and get to know Jaluha’s Cakes beyond the frosting.

I’m looking forward to interacting more with you, growing together, and being part of your celebrations, big and small.

Feel free to look around, explore our work, and stay awhile. This space was created for you.

Love,

Wendy.
